We were introduced to Ray Mendlik of Custom Plastics through a mutual acquaintance in the Fall of 2001. We were having trouble with our current supplier holding critical tolerances on an extrusion profile that was key to our product line. Ray reviewed the current prints along with our application and said he believed that Custom Plastics could be successful in alleviating our tolerance issues. A PO was issued for the new tooling and so began our 13 year association with Custom Plastics.
Over those 13 years we had new designs and some redesigns of old ideas for new products. In every case there were always functional challenges that Ray and his team we able to overcome. Whether it was in the layout of the design or a different material to be tried Custom always seems to have a solution to our problem. Sometimes when business is moved from one vendor to another due to problem resolution, other issues can arise such as price increases and/or lead time issues. Neither of these were the case when we made the move to Custom.
Our previous supplier would supply the extrusion to us in 7.5 foot lengths and we would then cut the extrusion to size. In moving to Custom, not only did our cost decrease, but we were able to get our material cut to size resulting in both a material and labor reduction! A double win that is so rare in Purchasing today. Regarding delivery Custom excels there as well. On the occasions there have been inventory inaccuracies that have forced me to order product requiring a shorter than standard lead time. Custom has always come through for us and we have never missed a ship date when these instances have occurred. I have enjoyed our association over the years and plan to continue to be a Custom Plastics customer for many more years.
